This little video is really an answer to all the people who e-mailed me all the time saying “I can’t see which finger you’re using to hit which string when you you’re playing finger pick it.” Now what all these people are using the tabs on I don’t know, but if you use these tabs and the few files, you’ll see very clearly where the notes go, and you should be able to figure out, generally speaking, anything that’s here. If there are too many notes played then it’s the natural order of things is this, sort of the shape of your hand. So, generally this middle finger will play the highest strings or lower down gravity wise. This finger will play the other notes.
What I wanted to demonstrate is actually fairly irrelevant, because I’m just going to play a little bit of picking with just two fingers, just a thumb and a finger. Because it just needs a little bit of agility, but it means, what it does is it takes all the significance of having a set of finger to play a string if you like, because in fact, so we can actually just use one finger. And something like “Streets of London” which is quite complex, it can still be played just with one finger. So, there we go just a single finger, doesn’t matter which finger you use to pick the strings, just whatever feels right. Whichever one’s nearest really.
