Weekly iPhone feature
Hello everyone and thank you for tuning in to insidegeekcanada. My name is Evan Thies. And today is our iPhone feature. And I am going to be going through to an application called white noise. Now white noise basically generates ambient noise for you to relax or sleep or whatever you might need. And in the case in me I think the stress that it relieves is actually caused by the iPhone. For me, in all of this third party applications accidentally breaking my iPhone and I have gone through that lengthy restore process. Yeah! I love the iPhone but I think somewhere I have a slight animosity towards the tube for all the times it has put me through this restore. And I noticed new firm ware and hopefully it is helping. But this is the application if you need to relieve your anger. It is not ironic you relieving your anger of the third party applications feeling with a third party application. But in any case, let us take a look at white noise. All right so we are on the menu here. Let us go ahead and launch white noise.

So right after that you can already tell that is already playing. So let us just first turn down the volume here. And now this is basically the basic interface. You have the sounds, which have eight different sounds for now that you can choose from to play to either relax or to sleep to. They have a volume slider and a timer.
Right now I have notice the sliders are a bit buggy. Sometimes they do not want to turn back on, sometimes they do not want to slide down, it is just that great in the touch in sensitivity. A couple of notes that in the future they are planning to release a new version, with a few more sounds, and with some new features and from what I can tell actually it is going to be free for eliminated time, which seems kind of weird for an application like this because it is not really something that most people would pay for. I do not think but maybe I am wrong, but right I would get it because it is free.
So I am going to turn the volume up here and just demo some of the sounds. So I am going to try demo of the sounds now. As you can see here, the volume slider took a bit just to turn up, I have noticed that but skip the volume at a hundred and let us go through some of the sounds.
[Demo]
Right now this is beach waves and this is under the ocean. The next one is a fan. Basically just a fan that you hear on it, you know, in your room, or something like that.
[Demo]
Next one is crickets. I have heard much better cricket sounds so they should probably check it in getting different sound for that one.
[Demo]
TV which is just television static as if you could not find a channel.
[Demo]
Rain, sound of the rain coming there.
[Demo]
Air and air is just an air conditioner blowing.
[Demo]
Chimes, now this one, I do not know if this would really calm me it seems kind of annoying to me but --

And then the clock, now most people have a clock in their house that could probably replicate this noise, so I am not sure how useful it would really be. But overall, that the timer down there, you know, it is says 3:58 right now, and that is actually three hours and 58 minutes. That actually does it a quite long because if you are going to be sleeping or relaxing, you typically want it more in a few seconds. That is the first time I have tried out. I thought the timer was not working but it is just minutes and hours, and how long it takes to tick down.
So overall it is a fun little application just to play some white noise, and who knows they might actually help you relax or sleep. So I definitely check it out while it is still free in the iTune store.
To those who look at white noise, I do not know how much of really useful application is, but you know it is fun, and I guess it could pretty useful if you know, you actually did not need help you to go to sleep and you can put this next to you. And it did work on kind of trying to release new versions and stuff like that. So, I am interesting to se where it goes. I know there is talk about being paid, honestly I do not see myself ever buying an application like this, but for free I definitely try it though.
Give me other suggestions of applications or things I should demo the iPhone, you can email me at evan@insidegeek.ca, and take your general tech questions there as well. Thanks for watching this video and we will see you online.
