Katherine Power: Hello and welcome to the WhoWhatWear fashion closet. Hillary Kerr: We are your hosts, I am Hillary Kerr. Katherine Power: And I am Katherine Power. And today we're going to cover the basic pieces that you should be purchasing for fall. Hillary Kerr: Shopping for a new season can get expensive, so we're going to show you some great items, all under $150, that you can add to your current wardrobe right now. Female Speaker: One fantastic budget basic you can pick up is a flannel work shirt, just like this one seen here on Lauren Conrad. The budding designer wore her plait buttoned down, tucked into a dark blue pair of cigarette jeans and accessorized with an oversize pair of Wayfarer Sunglasses. Another great piece to pick up this fall is a classic gray blazer, like this one on Kate Moss. Seen here, leaving a meeting in London, Moss paired her snug jacket with a simple black top, skinny jeans, and her favorite pendent necklace, for an understated and chic outfit. Katherine Power: Sometimes the best way to find trendy pieces on a budget is by visiting your local thrift store. Since fashion recycles itself, you might just find an old piece that inspired a current runway trend. Hillary Kerr: To narrow down your fall shopping, make a list of the things you need before going to a large bargain store, that way you won't get overwhelmed. Katherine Power: So the jeans to wear this season are relaxed and really broken in, like this pair from J. Crew. We also gave her a long sleeve t-shirt, and we found our fantastic gray blazer at H&M. Hillary Kerr: Instead of giving her an ankle booty, we decided to go with these lace-up oxfords, and we added an ankle sock for a little extra warmth. Katherine Power: Now, we love a grungy flannel worn with a pair of jeans, but right now our favorite way to wear one is with a contrasting dressier black skirt, like this one from JCPenney.
