Who What Wear: NYC Fashion Week Part 5

Katherine Power: Attending runway shows is always fun but sometimes a casual presentation with the designers themselves can be a nice change of pace. On that note, we headed to a SoHo Studio to meet with the women behind Jovovich-Hawk. Female Speaker: One of the suits that we really loved this season, it's reminiscent a bit of late 60s England Marianne Faithfull like girls with, that are feminine of long hair, wearing like their boyfriend's clothes and the boy's suits. Female Speaker: This has been like one of our favorite silhouette for a blouse and we have done this blouse quite a few times in the last you know four years that we have been doing this and I love the contrast. I mean, we work a lot of with contrast, it's about taking something soft but with these really kind of edgy elements to it or vice a versa. There is so many of the inspirations are like us sort of wanting to channel these spirits, like the spirit of that girl and that song, that image from that certain period, like that little element. So, nothing is ever completely one thing, it's always like a little pieces of many different feelings. And we really wanted to like experiment with mixing prints and taking like things that were quite strong prints and putting them together. I love this dress too. Katherine Power: I love that dress too. Female Speaker: It is, and it's really like one of those gowns that I think a lot of people can wear. But these buttons are like, they are definitely over a 100 years old. Katherine Power: Also we wanted to ask you about your what you have coming on a target? Hillary Kerr: Yeah, we are so excited to this. Katherine Power: It's really exciting. Female Speaker: Well, it's all of like our kind of favorite pieces and things that you know people really loved, the signature pieces, first started. Female Speaker: There is something for everybody I think and it's got with the quality came out really great. Katherine Power: How many pieces are in the target collection? Female Speaker: We were asked for 75, I think we gave them like 100 and then ended it about to 80. Female Speaker: One of the reasons we started designing was in a sense that we felt like there is just a lot of really amazing things out there and everyone is very creative and very artistic but there is something to be said for just keeping things simple too, just making clothes that girls love.
