Katherine Power: And I am Katherine Power. At WhoWhatWearDaily.com we love taking the current runway collections and translating the high fashion trends into wearable outfits. While it's important to remain true to your own personal style, it certainly doesn't hurt to take a few cues from talented designers. We will show you our version of the fantastic runway look, but first check out the show that inspired today's episode.
Female Speaker: The runway look at Proenza Schouler was one of the season's best. It incorporated the Safari theme through classic khaki colors and military shapes. The collection balanced those more masculine elements with flirty short skirts and bright pops of color.
Katherine Power: With the Proenza Schouler collection in mind, let's go through the closet and create our own look. When you want to recreate the general feeling of a runway collection, start with the color palette. Sometimes you can get a similar effect just by going with the same tones.
Hillary Kerr: It's important to identify the overall theme or inspiration behind your favorite runway collection. This will help focus your search and help you find the right pieces.
Katherine Power: The look at Proenza Schouler involved layers of sleeveless tops and vests over these full ice skating type skirts that we have seen so much of recently. Every look was also accessorized with an interesting belt.
Hillary Kerr: For the base of this outfit we started with a swinging American Apparel skirt and a cream Rachael Pally scarf top which we tied at the neck. Next, we layered two vests, a slightly longer one from Urban Outfitters and then a shorter cropped gray vest from H&M.
Katherine Power: We found this cool interlocking belt and you can either wear it over both vests or just the one like we have here, which we think is a bit more flattering. Finally, we found these Pour La reptile skin shoes that are similar to the ones from the runway show.
