This video is based on the question why I became rabbi I do not know if anyone who really cares but here it goes.
I think there is some sense of the Christian Community that Christians are called the really it work that way in Judaism is basically people are feel that they want to study Judaism intensely and teach it, there is a lot rabbis who do different things, many of them of course are congregation rabbis. But, some work in Institutions and just good they have a lot of educated people around and the title really comes from a strong Jewish education.
This means teacher is not really the same as a pastor, minister or a priest. Now why that I become well, I had a terrific Jewish education my parents sent us to Jewish base school of three of us children first in orthodox base going to south east going to Chicago. Then I was the first graduating class of the summer Saturday school in Chicago. Let me set the Jewish supplementary High School several days a week.
Then in College, I took whatever Jewish course that I had it in Northridge Chicago. Now, they have quite a few in those days they want to anything but I took Biblical Hebrew and many of medieval Jewish histories and a lot of other Religion courses like Islamic civilizations in new testaments that trying to get a scent of other Religions. And from there, I went on to medical school and why?
Well, I was planning to be a lawyer until I am just finished my freshmen year of College that I want to the University of Chicago, because I have especial program called politics economic, world econ law which I thought be perfect for Law school. But earlier on I started giving sermon of appearance at synagogue twice a year when the kids took goes over the service and that is marvelous Jewish teachers a long on the way.
Especially this charismatic guy named Shwaga Aaron (ph), who was the superintendent of the board of education and Chicago for your talk in town just fell in love with it. And, one day I was that Jewish summer Camp called Owen St. Ruby Institute of Raja a reform camp, I was checking out the reform movement. I was teaching something and this is the summer between my freshmen - sophomore year.
And I realize that I enjoy that so much more than I enjoyed studying law American Law. So, I called my parents up and as I all discombobulated was not sure what to do. I came home and talked to my little sister and she suggested that I really sit down and make a flow chart being a debater, putting all the pros and cons. And, that is the stuff that I really wanted to do. And, that came our clearly, being a rabbi. Then I want to talk to my healer rabbi the nurse in Chicago and he said, “Do you love Jews, and I said, “Sure, “ and he said, “Do you care about the future the Jewish people?” I said, “Absolutely,” he said, “How do they like synagogue?” I said I like synagogue. So well then, go to a Medical School. Make and decide after that. So I went to Jewish Illogical seminar, which is the main conservative training school. And knew right away that this is what I want to study and teach and that is really how it happened. Now, most of my friends from debate we are going to law school or other professionals schools and I though that Jewish people needed rabbis and I loved it and so that as happened, I hope that answer the question.
