All right folks, its Jonathan here and this new number 12 in the selection I am doing entitled; why does a Deejay use?
In this one we are looking at monitors. Why does a Deejay use a monitor? What is a monitor? How big is it? How small, fat thin? What does it do? Where does it come from? Etcetera, why does he need it?
Hopefully, I will try to explain it to you. Just very briefly this will go classes the speaker that the crowd will listen to. Imagine you were the crowd out, this system down here is let us say where the Deejay will be. That is a CD changer that is the mixer now these are the monitors. Now then nothing is plugged in; everything is really just so set out to give you general idea. Now then let us say all of a sudden you are the crowd, this speaker is facing you. This is what you are going to be listening to, now that is an important factor; you are going to be listening through or from this speaker.
Now then, I am all of a sudden the Deejay and I am now here behind that speaker. What is happen is this, let us say I am playing music through this and the music is traveling towards you. That is fine but what you do find from a Deejay point of view is that you will get second hand sound from this speaker. Because the actual sound will travel forward and then it will carry all going. Since it hit something then that sound will rebound off that particular object and come back to the Deejay.
Now what is happening is the Deejay is getting like the second hand sound. He may hear the music but it would not be as loud as if he was standing in front of it. And be if he is in a room, he will get an echo which means that he is not getting the proper original sound from this speaker. Like I said second hand sound, so how does he come about getting his own sound?
This is where monitors come in. Like I said that speaker is facing you, the crowd. If either behind here now, I have got 2 small speakers. Again monitor speakers can be any size, they can be the size of that speaker on the stand, and they can be ten times the size of that. It depends on the venue or what the actual Deejay or artist wants.
These monitor speakers are now facing me. This is why a Deejay uses a monitor system. He would have a separate, call for it 99% of the time he will have a separate dial on his mixer. Generally they are called booth. Now what happens he will have a volume control which is the booth volume control and he can turn that up and down. Now what happens there is a separate output onto the mixer that will go into a separate amplifier separates into these speakers which are his actual monitor system. At the same time it will be another output that will go to a separate amplifier to separate needs to these guys here. In other words you are listening to a sound and at the same time the Deejay is listening to exactly the same sound. In difference being he is getting first hand sounds, you are getting first hand sounds. He is not getting a second hand muffle sound from over there and he has got his own separate volume control so he can turn his or her monitor system up as loud or as quietly as he or she wants.
So there you go video number 12, why does a Deejay use a monitor system. Basically, it is making sure he or she has got his or her own separate sound so they got good quality sound so from a point of view of mixing there is no echoing and basically it is a lot better, a lot cleaner sound and of course then the crowd can get blasted and the Deejay, if they want to can blast themselves as well.
Thank you very much for watching. Practice and enjoy.
