Alright folks, this video number 13 in a selection I am doing entitled why does a DJ use. In this one, we are looking at these guides slip mats. Now the slip mat is situated on a turntable on top of the platter, this is the platter here, there goes the slip mat like so. The slip mat is made up of material, it is very thin, it comes in all different colors and different logos except for whatever you want on the top of it. Now in the slip mat like I said is situated on the platter. You press that now and if you watch this mat, if I put my finger on the actual slip mats like so, the slip mat has stopped but the platter is still moving underneath because there is very little friction. If I take my finger off the actual slip mat then it continues moving like so okay. Some - if I put that on top of the slip mat, I could do the same thing. I can put my finger on the piece with the tiny amount of pressure, let go and the piece and it will carry on moving. The slip mat is there to enable you to manipulate whilst the platter is still moving underneath. That is very important for the DJs alike. For club DJs, for radio DJs, for mobile DJs and specially turntablist because they want to be able to manipulate and move the piece of it backwards and forwards quickly as much as they want and at the same time, they want that actual platter to move continually. That is why a DJ uses a slip mat. So, he has full control on the piece and at the same time the turntable, the platter is still moving alright. Thank you for watching, practice and enjoy.
