This is video number eight in a selection I am doing entitled why does a DJ use and this one, we are looking at lighting. Why does a DJ use, why does a DJ need lighting.
If you think about it, a DJ needs music logically for people to dance to and listen to. He needs the equipment to play the music through turntables, CD players, PC programs, etc, mixer, leads, cables, amplifiers, speakers. Let us say all of a sudden, he had only that amount of gear and he was playing in a room at 11:00 in the evening, in the winter when it is pitch black outside.
If he does not have any lighting, he has got one of two options, one is to keep the room dark, no lights on. Everyone will be falling over each other. They would not be able to see what is happening. The other one, is to basically turn the lights on in that room and all of a sudden, you have got white light and you have got very little atmosphere. Yes, the music is pumping. But you need some sort of atmosphere.
That is the key word, that is what the lighting will do for you because basically all he has got to do is turn all of the normal lights off that you would have in that room, all off and then by utilizing actual DJ lighting, you start to have an atmosphere, there is a feel, there is a vibe to the room. Lighting comes in many sizes, smaller than this or bigger than this, different kinds of bulbs, different kinds of effects, different colors, different formats. There are many to look at and choose from.
I am not going to start telling you names, makes and models but these videos are dedicated in targeting the people who do not really know what certain things are. So in video number eight, we are looking at lighting. Why does a DJ use lighting? He uses it basically to get an atmosphere to get a feel in the room where he is playing. If we have quick look here, you can see the effect you would get. If I just tap it now as well because this is actual unit is center light.
Here you go, you can see that stropping as well and if you imagine that inner room against the walls that is quite a nice effect and if you have five or six of these, it would look stunning. Okay?
Thanks watching video number eight. Practice and enjoy.
