Question: Hey doc why does hair turn grey?
Charlotte Grayson: Well, you've stumped me. I cant tell you why our hair turns grey but I can tell you how, our hair color comes from Melanin this is a pigment produced by cells of the base of our hair follicles, as we get older these cells start to die, so the new hair that grows in its place has no pigment the result grey or white hair.
Now you are wondering why the cells die, well that's what we don't know, despite of a whole lot of research stress or vitamin deficiency may have some effect is speeding up the process, but mostly its genetics that determines when a person will go grey. So if you find a grey hair lower you than expected, don't worry going grey usually is not a reflection on your health or life expectancy just means that a look more distinguished.
