Hello and welcome to Know Better Dog Food. Our company is based on education. What we do is educate people about the correct nutrition for our canine companions. What we have found is that for far too long, commercial pet food companies have made it far too easy for us to feed out beloved pets; both dogs and cats. And what is happening is that we are faced now with a lot of chronic health conditions because these commercial pet food companies have not put in the correct nutrition for our animals, I mean in order to maintain optimal health. What we do with this food is that we maintain life but we certainly do not maintain health in most situations.
Our information here is an—and our education is based on the fact that a dog is wolf .It is indisputable now through DNA testing, we have discovered that a dog is a wolf and our philosophy is that we should be feeding our dogs as wolves have been eating for the past 40 million years or so. They have survived very nicely in the wild and our whole premise is that if we can maintain a nutritional profile very close to that of the dog’s ancient predecessor, we will maintain optimal health.
What has happened with chronic health conditions and our canine companions is that we have come up with such things as dry itchy skin and brittle falling coat, infected ears we’ve got dogs that are terribly obese. They smell, they make our home smell, they have come up with such things as allergies which is a ridiculous situation, I will go into that when we’re talking about digestive enzymes and allergies. They have arthritis; very painful arthritis which is completely curable if you are going to be feeding properly the nutritional—proper nutritional profile based on meat and allergies and arthritis simply don’t appear. We have dogs now faced with cancer. Cancer is a huge killer among dogs, I believe it is the number one killer of dogs and cats now in North America.
So, what we’re finding is that people who are switching from the commercial pet food companies over to a home made diet are seeing good results but what happens is with a home made diet, it must be balanced. Calcium is one of the main reasons that the food has to be balanced. Another thing is that when people feed home made diets, they automatically think that a dog should eat the same way as people do and nothing could be further from the truth actually, certainly dogs can eat a lot of the same foods that we do but what happens in the human world is that we far too many carbohydrates and we think that our dogs should be fed the same way. Even when it comes to things like eating brown rice and oat, a small amount is okay but dogs simply shouldn’t be fed that amount of carbohydrate. They lack the digestive enzymes in the stomach to deal with carbohydrates and that is the basic fact there.
Another area where the commercial pet foods are lacking generally is in the omegas. A good animal source omega is essential for organ health and both us and our dogs, so what we do with our foods here is that we put in our artificial oil base that gives a correct omega profile.
So, if you are tired of chronic health conditions with your pets and you really don’t want to spend a whole lot more money at the vet, try to deal with these situation then all of the drugs and so on that they are using such as antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Our are suggestion is that you start feeding properly, you take your dog off of these dry or canned commercial pet foods that are based on grains and you switch over to a home made diet. It is a little bit more work. For people who have been making home made diet, you know that it is somewhat more work. But there were words are there. You have a happier healthier dog with better energy, you are not faced with a lot of vet bills and it’s very satisfying making your own dogs food.
My suggestion is that if you want to balance it, you use one of our products, we have for the cooked meal plan we have used to which is a really good choice for people who are cooking meats and vegetables. When you are using these products, these vegetables in here are really optional, we have all the nutritional content in our powders that these vegetables have. So if you are cooking meat, you can do without the vegetables. I know how much work it is grinding up vegetables and steaming them and so on. If you are using our powder, you don’t have to do all that, you just use meat and our powder and some water and you are done.
If you are wanting to go the raw root, we have better in the rack, it is perfectly balanced calcium, phosphorus is balanced. You don’t—you are not face with having to go to the health food store and so on and try and do all the—work yourself.
If you are still really fixated on the dry and canned commercial foods, there are some really good ones out there. If you go with the ones that don’t have grains in them, you are far further ahead. You are not going to have the omegas in them. The omegas are very volatile and they don’t survive in an environment such as dry dog food. So what we’ve come up with here is our product is actually our new product for people who are wanting to stick with commercial pet foods. It is called Better Bits and you use one level tablespoon for a 25 pound dog and you just sprinkle it on or you can make a gravy out of it and mix it in with the dry or canned food, that gives you all of your omegas, it gives you a calcium source, it gives you vitamin A which is in the liver, it gives you all the nutrients, all the multi minerals and micro nutrients as well as your animal is needing.
