Matt Stigen: As time goes on with commercial grade toothpaste dental fibers, the abrasives scrape the enamel. And over years of use on the tooth actually becomes more yellow. Why it's important to have a non-abrasive plant fiber based toothpaste is; you don't get any scraping on the enamel.
A lot of common commercial tooth products use a chalk dicalcium phosphate, which is bone, and silica, which is sand. And as that enamel is eroded over years of use with these commercial toothpastes; yellowing starts to form, because the enamel is a white color and as that's scraped away you get to the dentin, which is yellow, and that's a common problem in the United States.
Raena Morgan: With commercial toothpaste that does affect your breath though, it may yellow your teeth, but it gives you usually pretty good breath.
Matt Stigen: Yes, I have no knock on commercial toothpaste. I grew up with commercial toothpaste; I love that minty fresh feeling, but it's all a mirage, because you're really harming the tooth for some benefit of fresh breath. There are other means to do that. This is a natural product; it does have kind of a wood pulp flavor to it. You're not going to have that real crisp minty fresh breath, but it'll be fresh.
RM: And clean?
MS: And clean. And, you won't be harming the enamel.
RM: And safe?
MS: And safe.
RM: Okay, thank you Matt.
MS: Thank you.
