Welcome to watchmojo.com. I am your host Angelica and today we will be profiling Denver, the “Mile-high City”.
Denver is nicknamed the “Mile-high City” because its official elevation is exactly one mile 5280 feet above sea level. Its nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountain and is as flat as a pancake. Once a gold rush town, Denver is now Colorado’s commercial and transportation center. Home to major corporations, cultural attractions, museums, brew pubs and shops.
The city and county of Denver is the most populous city and the capital of the state of Colorado. Denver is located on the South Platte River valley on the high plains just east of the front range of the Southern Rocky Mountains.
Denver has a semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons. Spring time visitors to Denver will find sunny days with cool evenings. Sunglasses are a must because Denver has more sunny days than either San Diego or Miami. Fall is pleasantly similar to Spring with warm days and cool evenings. Winter days are generally a combination of warm sun and crisp air. Daytime temperatures can vary from below freezing to above 60 degrees.
While downtown Denver offers many shopping, dining and entertainment options, visitors should also venture into the surrounding neighborhoods of the Mile-High City. From modern shopping Mecca’s to quaint Victorian shops filled with one of a kind treasures, there are plenty of exciting neighborhoods to give visitors a real feel and taste for all that Denver has to offer.
Mild weather, outdoor recreation, history and culture, world class attractions what more could you ask for?
