Dave: Generally excellent presentation, BUT :-). My first observation is that you said a dirty filter makes the furnace work harder. I believe you will agree that most furnaces are digital...they are's on or off. That being said, a dirty filter can not make the furnace work "harder".. ..just longer. A subtle, but I believe important distinction. In addition, a fan does not work harder against a dirty filter. In fact the opposite is true. When the fan is not moving as much air (dirty filter) it's uses less power because it's not working as hard (put you hand over a vacuum hose and you hear the fan howl because it's spinning faster because it's doing less work...check both my claims with an amp probe)... Lot's of good reasons to change the filter, Dave, but not the ones you said. Best wishes and keep up the great work!!
