Benny Shoham: August 8th is the first day of autumn according to Chinese tradition and now I will explain how this date became to be the first day of autumn. If we look at the cycle of the year and we will see the longest day which is 21st June to be the middle of summer and the 21st of December to be the middle of winter then we can mark these equation dates 21st of March and 21st of September, all of these are the middles of all the seasons.
So if we take the time between 21st of June and 21st of September, we find out that somewhere around August 8th which is considered the first day of autumn. All those dates between the 21st and the equation dates are the first day of all the season which should be summer here, autumn here, winter here and spring here and maybe some of us can start to sense the climate changes between the summer and the autumn but we will fully see the autumn only on 21st of September because autumn will be three months from now on, I want to read to you from the Chinese book of Internal Medicine about tips of what to do in autumn.
It is desirable to sleep early and get up early with the crowing of the rooster, to maintain a peaceful will in order to slow down the killing effects of autumn, to constrict the energy of the spirits, which is the anger, in order to calm down the energy of the autumn, to refrain from moving outward in order to clean up the energy of the lungs. That's all, thank you.
