Gary Vaynerchuk: Hello everybody! This is Gary Vaynerchuk from Wine Library TV and I am here today for one simple reason, to answer the question, why should I drink wine?
I know there are a lot of you right now that drink the same old wine or don't even drink wine. Beer lovers or you just like a little vodka on the side. Whatever maybe, and you know you are hearing a lot about wine. Wine is exploding. Now the number one consumed alcoholic beverage in America, shocking the numbers, incredible I mean 80% growth on wine drinking and the NASCAR seeing.
So wine has clearly transcended borders. It's no more of your snooty grandfather's wine anymore. I am even going to give you one real basic reason to why a guy like me who is a total sports guy, a guy who is kind of guy, I think so, loves and adores wine and it's very simple. Variety, spice of life. Let me explain something to you that you may not realize.
Budweiser, Coors, Absolut, Seagram's Seven, Gins, Vodkas, all these things, same formula. The juice in this wine, I am going to give you a great example, I am really thrilled to show you. This is Beckman 2005 Cuvee le Bec. It's a Grenache, lone varietal, mambo-jumbo. You don't need to worry about all the scoop I am talking about. We will get into that later but this wine is 2005, it's incredible. 2004, I am dead serious atrocious; off balanced, not good. 2005, explosive rich. Now this is why people are scared of wine because there are no basic rules. I know you do want to get basic rules from me on the video. You are not going to get them; you are going to have trust your own palette.
However, the reason wine should be consumed and why you should drink it is one, it's good for you. It's like the only thing we can like, food is even bad for us these days. Number two, the variety of flavors, which by the way is I know you don't eat the same thing over and over, a couple of you do I know, but you know what I mean. The variety of flavor that wine offers even within the exact same product from year-to-year is unparalleled, untouched, not even the same ballpark as everything else that you have been drinking including water sodas and other spirit.
So if you want to mix it up and try different things and not live the same old life, you too will become an wine lover.
