This week Nintendo finally released its highly anticipated Wii Fit and also in the news it is reported that may have actually fluctuate at 32%. However, in nation that has 1/3 of it’s children overweight is not a very healthy one. Some experts believe that extra gaining maybe the answer, what is extra gaining you ask, it is actually a video game that requires some physical activities such as the Wii Fit. So today, I am actually going to be trying out how this balance board may affect my waistline and also my self-esteem.
Right now am I’m putting on my heart rate monitor so that we can check out and see if I’m actually burning in a calories or I’m getting any type of cardiovascular effect in it. Having used to play soccer, I chose to try Wii’s version first, labeled as a balanced exercise, this game could really doubled as in abs workout. However, in order to get the benefits you need to engage your core something we lacks mentioning. Pretty points, last time I only got nine. Let us check the heartbeat. I am 118, not bad.
Next, I tried out the hula-hoop. My only entertaining this game is listed under the aerobics category however, according to my heart rate, the cardio benefits I received from the Wii Hula hoop were equivalent to a walking warm up. My advice, go out and buy an actual hula-hoop if you like it that much. Heart rate is 114, still not in the fat burning zone, this is kind of a warm up according to my heart rate specialist.
Still longing for some good cardio, I move on to the running program. I didn’t like game because first it expects you to run behind a virtual leader and second why purchase a $90.00 game to run when you can do it outside for free. However my heart rate did get the most action during this exercise. I won!
Finally, I gave the yoga a try. The overall concept is far from what yoga is meant to be. You stand on the board rather that a mat and the game stops between poses rather than flowing from one to the next. Most importantly the instructor feels to direct the student on breathing techniques and other important safety instructions. I did however feel that my clothes were getting wet.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the Wii Fit. I think it’s fun, the people who were older than typical video games and the graphical really enjoyed it. However, my two things that I want to point out, number one; there was crisis on about some the Wii Fit when a younger was called fat. There was no sensitivity radar built into the Wii Fit, somebody has to tell it like it is and it is better coming from a video game than say a parent you might scold their child for life if they do say that to themselves, it is also an easy way out. The second thing that I want to say is that we the yoga and some of the strength moves in the other games, the trainers don’t give you a good direction as what you should be thinking about in which muscles you should be engaging but I supposed every little bit help. So if you do have a week go out and try by the Wii Fit
