Hey guys thanks for tuning in. as you know in a survival situation whether it’s a 10 degrees below zero or 100 degrees the most important thing you need to do is keep hydrated. So in this video I'm going to show various options of carrying water out in the wilderness. Ill go over the different containers and accessories that goes along.
Okay the first options that I'm going to show you is U.S military airy style one Court canteen and this is a good example of what it looks like. They come in all different colors. This one is clear that’s good so you can see how much water you left in there. There’s lot of different accessories for them. This one has a clip so you can put it on you're pistol belt or any other belt or you can even hook it to your pack if you wanted too. Also you can get canteen cover which looks like this. They kind of insulate from extreme temperatures. They have a lining inside.
They have Alice clips on them so you can attach it to your pistol belt or your pack. Also a lot of them come with a little pocket on it kind of like this. So and this one I have strike anywhere matches holder. This is like the new deluxe model of the canteen cover. This is molly compatible. This has two side pockets which I keep iodine tabs in for purifying water and on this side I have a trioxane fuel bar which you can use to heat you're food rations or to boil water. Also they this military canteen cups which fit—the canteen fit right inside of it and it has handles that don’t get hot over the fire. You can boil you're water in it. You can food in it and it also fits right into the canteen cover.
So that’s one of your options the one Court military U.S military style canteen and our military are using them for years. They're made out of tough plastics so these are one of my favorites actually to use in the wilderness. The next options for carrying is this plastic of water bubbles that our commonly use with a back packers and hikers. There extremely durable bottles. A good thin g about them is it has measurements on them. So you can see exactly how much you have left. You'll know how much you drink at the end of the day if you drink the right amount.
It’s good because they're see through. Another good thing is most of them have these attachments so you won't loose the cup and there's different size of mouths on these. This is a bigger one and this is a smaller size one. The smaller sizes are that obviously easier to drink out of. This is for better for like scooping out of a stream or something and putting iodine or whatever. These are a 30 ounce size and they make a smaller one like this which is a 14 no 16 ounce.
And this had also has the measurements on it. These are all Nalgene brand bottles very good high quality bottles. This is also A Nalgene. The good thing about this one is it squares so if you drop it or something it’s not going to roll away. Its completely see through which is good. The bad thing this one is the cup doesn’t have an attachment. So you could loose the cup so just to be careful. Also I think the square might fit better in a pack. It’s easier to pack stuff around it so. These are the Nalgene bottles, plastic, water bottles that you see people commonly have.
I like this too! They’re pretty good. I prefer the military style canteens but this would be my second bet if I had to choose. Okay another option for keeping hydrated in the wilderness is a hydration bladder. These fit into many different style back packs. The make them compatible. You can hold the significant amount of water and this one holds over 64 ounces. It has a straw so it can attach right down to your shoulder strap of you're back pack and you can drink basically without using you're hands which obviously that would definitely be good for someone in the military and that’s what they do use a lot of the time.
And basically these aren’t my favorite’s things. I prefer bottle or some kind or a canteen because if you need to fill this in a small stream or something it’s not easy. A good thing about this is they're light weight. Basically you're just carrying the water weight but these are very popular with a lot of people. Bicyclist use them, hikers a lot of different people so but like I said it’s not my favorite.
This is a filled line back pack that’s compatible with the blotter hydrations system. These are basically the equivalent to any small camel bag back pack. So basically like I said this would be you’re shoulders strap and its right near you're mouth. You just need to take it and put in you're mouth. And then basically you're hands free after that. This is what the blotter looks like inside the bag. There's a little pouch for it. This is a small bag so it basically takes up the whole entire space. I mean you can put a little couple things like GPS or whatever you need to a little food or something but; and that’s basically one a hydration back pack looks like.
Okay the next option I'm going to talk about is a two Court GI military style collapsible canteen and this is not hard. You can kind of roll it up a little bit and put in your pack and save some room. This is a two Court canteen which holds double of the first military canteen I showed you. Also there is a pouch than you can get for them with the Alice clips on them so you can attach it to a pistol belt just like the one I show on right here.
Also this has an adjustable shoulder strap on it which is good that’s the way I like to use it. It has a little pocket in the front which you can keep purification tabs in or matches or whatever you want to put in there. I've got some potable aqua in mine. Also this one has a lining in it so in cold temperatures to might help from the water from freezing in your canteen or in hot temperatures. They could insulate it and keep it cold for longer than if you didn’t have the insulation.
So overall this is probably one of my favorite style water carriers. To just very good, very durable it holds a lot of water, its pretty lately because it s pretty thin so like I said this is one of my favorite. Two Court military style GI canteen. Okay the last one I'm going to do is something that I think everyone should have in there wilderness survival kit. It’s a basic zip lock bag. It holds a lot, lot of water. It’s obviously cheap light weight easy to pack up in your kit and if you don’t have anything else in the woods. This could help you a lot obviously.
And you can the zip lock bags for a lot of other things. So I would definitely recommend putting one of this in your survival kit. And there you go there is some of you're different options for carrying water in the wilderness and thanks again for watching.
