Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to part five of our special butterscotch.com 10-part series on Windows Live Messenger. Now, in this segment I’m going to look briefly at customization of messenger. So in the messenger, we’ll click on the menu, go down to tools. Go down across here to options. Now there’s a number of options as you can see so you move down here down the left hand side, you can customize the messages must displayed to those people who see you, what your name is, you can elect to show that you’re always away after so many minutes, you can have Windows Live Messenger start automatically when Windows starts. You can customize how messages are shown, customize the alerts, use the default sounds or you can use your own sounds. You can have sharing folders and you can customize this depending on the user. You can set up file transfers so you can set a default folder where you want our file transfers to go.
Here is absence for phone, you can create things for different tabs, you have your privacy options and your security options in here because you can have a list of people who are allowed or blocked. And then there's information on your connection. So you click here, go to actions, personalized messenger, and then we’ll say backgrounds.
Now, this is a separate site that you can log into and here you can get backgrounds for your Windows Live Messenger, you can get different emote icons, some that are very animated and lots more.
So that’s a site that you can explore on your own. You can keep your locker where you can keep all the things that you get from the site. So these are ways that you can configure Windows Live Messenger and customize it so that it’s exactly how you want it to be. And that concludes part five.
