Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to part six of our special butterscotch.com 10-part series on Windows Live Messenger. Now on this segment I’m going to talk to you about sharing data with family and friends using Windows Live Messenger. You can do it in a couple of voice. One way is to be talking with one of your contacts and you can click here in the message window, select file, and then send a single file. Another way is to select the option, file, send a single file, and then the program brings up and you select a contact, so I selected John, I’ll say okay.
Now I have to pick a file and I’ll pick something simple. One of my Blackberry backup files, I’m sure John will be through about that. Now, John gets a message so you can see here that it’s saying waiting for John to accept. So if John accepts the transfer is complete and it’s all done.
Now, another way to share files is through your sharing files folder. And the message here is telling you that files you add to the sharing folder will automatically be shared with the content. So you click okay, at my sharing folders I can click share a folder with a contact, I can select John, say okay and it’s saying that Windows is unable to detect virus scanning software. That’s because I just recently uninstalled it. But anyway there is John and I can share files with him, I can pause all sharing, I can keep an activity log so I can see what’s been going on with my files.
So Windows Live Messenger gives you some easy ways to quickly share files and folders with your family and friend and that concludes part six.
