Bowmann here at BWone.com. I’m going to give you a preview tour on windows mobile 6.5 beta. So let’s get started.
So the first screen you see here is a lock screen and at the bottom here of your date and time and at the top here you have a slide lock. It is—I like the slide lock like this, go to the left then to the right and you go all the way to the side, unlocks it and brings you to the new today screen.
The new today screen in windows mobile 6.5 is very similar to the Microsoft zoom interface. So you can actually use a little highlight bar scroll up and down to the different options, if you can click on the screen and scroll the options up and down to do the highlight bar and each one of these option says something different that you can choose within the options.
So you can start up here at pictures, you can scroll up and right for your pictures and if you actually want to choose that picture, we choose this one here and we actually type on it then bring the picture up. Have your music here and the music does the same thing and actually scroll up and right between the music, it uses the windows media player I think its 10 so it’s not the newest one yet. I’m assuming once windows mobile set to .5 that’s final they’re going to have a new media player on that but if you actually want to play this song, just click on the song. Type on it like that, it starts playing the music right from the today’s screen and you types it again to stop.
Next tab here is the phone, you can have your miss calls and call history right in here and you can slide between add those more calls come in. Give you contacts and you view it right here at the bottom. Each one of these options changes what the left and right socket you have for options as well. It’s your voicemail you have your date and time here. And this also is your alarm clock and your different time zones office when you click outside of it. You have your text messages, this allows you to scroll for your text messages and also gives you who sent it in a bit of a snip it over preview what that text message was the same thing for email and calendar. It’s the same thing to scroll left and right through your appointments and create a new point right from the screen and your favorites here at the bottom it’s related to the internet explorer, so you can explore over here and you can click on which one you want and it will take you right through there .
So that’s pretty much the new today’s screen and what else is new is the start menu here if you look at the top, you go to the start menu at the top that actually brings out what you call minute phase very similar to the photos that you’ve been seeing online if you could look at online in windows mobile 6.5 you can see this kind of honey cone style interface for your programs and all the option inside and you use the tab on it and it brings you these options in the back lens down here at the bottom. The locked button is here so if you actually want to unlock the phone and you just hit that icon there. You have to imagine when we get to find to fill the windows mobile 6.5 that icon actually is going to get moves to some place, of course it sets to today’ s screen so that you can easily access it.
And you have a typical option here, you have windows live built in, office mobile, you can scroll up and down with the calculator and stuff like that and I know what I have to do is highlight and often click it and then it opens it up just like a windows mobile from previous generations, so you can start up here with a file explore or example. Click on file explorer and opens up as you notice it looks a little bit different and one of the big things you know this is a nice kind of blue highlight bar here that kind of gives you a better idea what you’re selecting, you click on it. You could see what your clicking on and you can scroll right here on the side. If you scroll up and down as well, gives you a nice scroll icon here and if you click menu you get a nice big finger friendly options you can scroll through here as well. It’s kind of a thing with windows mobile 6.5 and supposed to be more one handed use friendly bigger buttons easier access options it’s kind of the main thing for windows mobile 6.5 is up and going through it.
And we’ll click, actually over to internet explorer and test that out. And one of the nice things about new explorer is it actually go to webpage so go there. See that whole page. This is internet explorer mobile 6 beta so we’ll see what’s the available stuff and it’s floating up like what I’m showing you here at the bottom icons you have here so if you’re quick access keys here at the bottom kind of similar to operate a mobile. You have here stuff and back key that will change according to what the browser is doing. You have your favorites, you have your keyboards, highlight that, keyboard pops up, hide it back, keyboard pops down, she’s got some bugs and twitches within the system because it’s just a beta build. You have your zoom key. It allows you to zoom in and out of the webpage. Let’s bring you back up here. Quick zoom, allows you to zoom in, allows you to zoom out when the web page is loading obviously it’s taken us time to load because it’s still on explorer 6 beta so it’s not fully, fully finished yet and still a lot of bugs within it and if you click this icon here on the right it brings up your finger friendly options right here on the side. So actually it’s a little bit better.
Now, it looks like the zoom doesn’t want to work, instead it’s loading everything up so that’s basically it for our internet explorer also if you click on the actual screen there it will remove all the menus and it will give you a full screen view of it. When you click on this bottom icon it brings all that information back see if we can get this working. And there you go, there’s the zoom in, scroll up, let’s just zoom in, and hit back here and let’s just zoom that. So let’s just exit here. And if you noticed that most of the menus screen also kinds of pops up at you sort of like kind of sits on top of the screen so that it’s flat, it kind of pops out hell like a little shadow on the back of it to make more noticeable but other than that that is pretty much what you’re seeing with windows mobile 6.5 it’s kind of nothing else is really has changes. It’s kinds of sort of skinning and then kind of more of a user, you want an enhancement to windows mobile 6.1 rather. It’s kind of enhancing that in 6.5 so you’re not going to get it. So you’re not going to get really a change in the core rather that’s what I’m trying to see. You’re not really going to get the chance of core operation of the operating system. I think we’re not going to get that on windows mobile 7.
So for now 6 is going to be a nice sort of user interface, more friendly, easy to access upgrade and windows mobile 7 will the core change. So this is Bowmann from BWone.com. I’m giving you a preview tour on windows mobile 6.5 beta and to see what is going to be when we finally get the final build and this stuff should be on the biases of the fall and always remember to live your tech world in high definition.
