Windows movie maker usually starts out in story word mode. We are going to switch to timeline mode by pressing show timeline which will give us a little more precession down here. Now, backup in the workspace, one of our clips has a very strange name, we are going to click on it, press F2 and then rename it and press enter. Once we have done that, we can click and drag this clips down under the timeline in any order that we want. This little blue bar appears, this is called the play head, you can click anywhere along the timeline to get the play head to jump to that spot.
If you click and hold on the play head, you can actually scrub to preview any of the video on the timeline. Now, if I decide I want to split one of these clips in half, all I need to do is click on the timeline, use clip, split and now I have two separate clips.
Now, I can rearrange them by clicking and dragging and then dropping, you can do that with any of these clips in any order that you want. If you decide you want to shave part of the front or the back of clip off, all you need to do is hover over the front or back edge, you will see a double red arrow, click and then hold and you can shave part of the clip off.
Now, when you let go, the back part disappears. Another thing you can do for more precession is zoom in with the magnifying glass so that you can really get precise with your shaving and you can zoom back out to see the entire timeline. Now if I decide I want one of these things to not be on the timeline, all I need to do is right click and choose delete. It deletes a clip from the timeline but it does not actually delete it from your computer or your collections.
Finally, a little shortcut is using the spacebar to play and pause, it is just as simple as pressing spacebar and then pressing spacebar to pause. It is kind of handy.
And, now you are ready for the next section.
