Hello I’m Ellen Colins with Vintage Wines and Spirits in Colorado Springs Colorado. To say were talking about an Introduction to Wines around the World. Different regions produce better wines curve varietal depending on what the soil types are like? The major wine regions in the worlds are Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United States, Chili, Argentina and South Africa.
Now we are going to talk about wine from each of those regions. Our first stop is Champagne France; this is a very high latitude and creating quite high acidity in the grapes making for very refined bubbles and very exquisite silky Champagnes. The only place in the world that should be calling sparkling wine champagne is the district of champagne France and it is truly lovely, lovely wine.
Our next stop [Muffled]. [Muffled] is chardonnay grapes grown in [Muffled] district of Burgundy in France. Other places in the world might call their wine [Muffled] but they should not because [Muffled] should only be known for this region of France. It is a lovely wine and it is very clean and fresh and very well made in that region. When we talk about [Muffled] we need to go to the birth place which is Burgundy, France. Burgundy’s make fabulous [Muffled] that are long live and considered the finest in the world. [Muffled] is made from the nebbiolo grape in the northwest region of Italy in Piedmont. It is a very long leave grapes, it is considered the king of wine because it can age so long and it is wonderful.
Kianti is a region in Tuscany known for Sangiovese and other smaller person to varietals. It is a terrific wine that goes with lots of simple foods and it is a signature of Tuscany. Real [Muffled] is one of Spain’s signature grapes. Rio Hays made from [Muffled] and there are different levels of quality depending on the vineyard sites and the age. It can be a reservoir or [Muffled] depending on how long its age. The Real has a terrific wine to taste with lots of foods.
Germany is making some of the finest [Muffled] in the world. Once again it is very high in latitude. Very far north and that is important from making a clean, crisp but still sweet and great fruit, great minerality [Muffled]. If you are looking for [Muffled] definitely look to Germany. Peonage is from South Africa. This invented 1925 as across between [Muffled] and [Muffled]. It is big and spicy and great with the cuisine of South Africa. [Muffled] from Australia is a big bold delicious wine. It is a same grape as [Muffled] however, they chose to call it [Muffled] Australia named after the Persian city where they discovered the Varietal. It is really a delicious big wine can be very long live or a light fruity wine for the Porch goes either way.
Our next stop is New Zealand. New Zealand is known form [Muffled]. [Muffled] has pretty much been put it on the map from the Marlboro region and they make some of the finest [Muffled] in world second only to the Lamar valley of France. Now it is time to go to Chili. Chili is really the only place left in the world that grows fabulous Carmenere. Carmenere is a long lost varietal from Borda that they discover through DNA testing and other making some of the finest Carmenere and it is really, really a signature of [Muffled].
Some of the best now back in the world is from Argentina. Now back is board of varietal but it moved to Argentina early on. They do not really use a lot of Malbec in [Muffled] but in Argentina its king. Reds and Findel is truly American. Reds and Findel was founded by the Italian immigrants early in the 1800’s and there is still plants that is over a 100 years old in parts of California. This grape is hardy and rich spicy and it is truly great with barbeque. It is one of our best varietals that we produce. When we talk a bout [Muffled] we must talk about the Napa valley. Napa Valley is a fabulous place for [Muffled] it has been increasing in quality year after year and it is some of the finest [Muffled] in the world. That is wine regions from around the world.
