Sherry: Exciting times lie ahead for Steelback Brewery. From its base near the shores of Lake Huron in Temperton, Ontario, there’s award winning micro brewery as laying the foundation for continued growth and expansion. Steelback CEO and owner Jonathan Sherman.
Jonathan: We’re thrilled about our future here at Steelback Brewery. We’ve made a number of changes recently with the products and managing team. We have a grateful master, she’s won number of awards already and they just keep coming in every year. We have a very dedicated team here at the brewery. And we have a fantastic product.
Ian Macdonald (President, Steelback Brewery)
Ian: Steelback gives people who enjoy great tasting beer. We’re very proud of our 5 premium brews including our award winning Temperton Dark, Temperton Honey Brown, and Steelback Light. We’ve created an entirely new segment in our Ontario beer market. We’re calling it value premium. We’re offering an award winning crafted beer at mainstream domestic prices so people can enjoy a great tasting beer without really hitting them in the pocket part.
Sherry: Karen Cumimin just the cornerstone to brewing a great beer, brewmaster Jayne MacGillivray.
Jayne: Steelback Brewery is committed to staying true to its local roots and maintaining the tradition of craft brewery. We believe craft brewery is an art and we don’t treat it like a process or just another manufacturing line. The beers that we produce here are made with an all natural ingredient, there are no preservatives. We use premium malted barley, the finest crops and we have a fermentation and aging process that takes 28 days from start to finish. And we believe this is a superior product and that we’re all very proud of here.
Jay Paul (Plant Manager, Steelback Brewery)
Jay: One of the most unique pieces of equipment that we have here at Steelback is what was formerly used as an apple press. We have converted it into a lauder ton which is more traditionally used in the brewery industry. It’s unique to us because we’re the only ones in the brewery industry that’s actually using an apple press for this purpose. It’s beneficial to us because we are able to pass more work through it which means that we have a better yield. And in the end we have more beer. For myself and all the employees here we take a lot of pride in what we do day to day. I love the beer and for potential customers as soon as they try the beer, they’ll love it as well.
Sherry: Steelback is available at the Steelback Brewery retail shop, beer stores, and select LCBOs across Ontario. And for more information, check out steelbackbrewery.com. Sherry Demetarco reporting.
