Hi! I am Valerie Rippetoe with Marsha's Wardrobe Consulting. I am showing you how to update your spring wardrobe. Right now I am going to show you the new waistlines for spring. After seeing waistlines going lower and lower over the last several years, it was hard to sit without skin showing, the waistline is making the move up. We're first going to look at Mary Margaret's suit she has on, which is a very polished professional look.
This is a stretch-denim and I want you to take note of the details on this jacket. The square gold closures on the front of the jacket and then the detail at the arm, we have the three-quarter length sleeve which is great for spring going into summer and the gold square detail at the cuff.
Now I want to show what's underneath this jacket. So Mary Margaret is going to unbutton it. We actually have it with a great fashion color combination. We have the aqua paired back with the chocolate and then we have one of the new high-waisted skirts which is very reminiscent of the 1940s. Also note that it is another one of the pencil skirts that are a must-have for spring.
What I want to do though is make -- it's a beautiful suit, it's polished, its professional altogether, but I am going to take it apart and we are going to put it with another jacket because I want the skirt to be the focal point.
So now what I have done is take a very fashion forward piece of the skirt and paired it back with the aqua, again a great spring fashion color combination. The emphasis is again at the waist, the detail with the square buckle really shows the high-waistedness. So this is one of the new waistlines.
Now I am going to show you two dresses with higher waists.
So now I am going to show you two dresses with the higher waist, both of which have the empire look to them. The first one is our black stretch fabric, miracle fabric we call it, because it can take 10 pounds off of you. So this is just kind of the classic sheet, but what's a little bit new about it is that it's belted and it's a little bit higher up.
However someone could take the belts loop off and you could put it lower down if you were more comfortable that way and then we have our white dress with also the same empire effect to it and the focus is that gold detail right in the middle under the bust line. Both of them have really pretty shapes and it definitely emphasizes the waist. So that's how to update wardrobe with the new waistlines.
Next, I am going to show you the must-have blouses for spring.
