Welcome to the introduction of Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia that’s written by people from all over the world. It can also be edited and updated by anyone to be sure that it's current and up to date. Wikipedia has online encyclopedias and many different languages so it's great for everyone. You can find information on things like web 2.0 which is a phrase I'm sure you’ve heard throwing around, or something as simple as an artichoke. There's so much content here. It's almost unbelievable. You can search for unread articles on Wikipedia for free without signing up for anything. And you can also edit pages about signing up but the benefits of signing up for a free account include keeping your IP address private and much more which we’ll cover in this series. To sign up for a free account, just read this information and turn the security code, fill up a short form and click on create an account. You’ll then be ready to start spreading your knowledge of things to Wikipedia. Remember, there are 10 parts to this series so don’t forget to check out the other episodes in the introduction to Wikipedia series.
