Hey guys, what’s up? 47th application review here. I know you guys are seeing different background, differently usual. This is actually my kitchen table right here. I am waiting for a package to come today through the mail and I want to make sure that I'm downstairs to hear the door bell ring. So I am not cooped up my room today. I am actually going to be reviewing this right here on my kitchen table. The reflection you guys are seeing right now is a lamp shade above my kitchen table.
Anyway guys, let’s try this review off. These are all going to be from the same company, Skyworks. If you guys haven't heard Skyworks, basically the way I would describe them is they are the premier sports application company for the iPod and for the iPhone. They have a crazy amount of sports application all of them do vary with what kind of sport they have as you will see today. The cool thing about them is that usually in there applications they include more than one game plan modes, so the apps is always fresh. And there is always something in the application for at least someone to find. There is something for everyone really, there’s childish kind of mode, there’s the intense kind a Korea modes. It is really a great company that does fantastic work of the applications getting in depth applications for very affordable prize.
The one that I am really excited to show with you guys today is World Cup Ping Pong, only because I have not found a ping pong app on the app store that I have actually enjoyed too much so far. But this one definitely succeeds. It is great application, great work for them. You have four different modes pretty much, you have PRACTICE MODE which is you up against they pretty much half of the ping pong table. HEAD TO HEAD, this is going up against another player on the same device. ARCADE MODE which is pretty much this playing against the computer opponent that you want too. And then TOURNAMENT MODE which is actually a bracket pretty cool. It’s actually later and everything, I will show you that in a second.
I will show you practice mode. You click one of the eight countries available. Pick USA and we will play against the UK because apparent they suck at ping pong. There are three different paddles to select from, the pretty much the basic which half and half powers and spin, the ore spin shut and then the power shut.
Let’s do half and half. And pretty much what you do is as you as see, this is sweet graphics. These are awesome graphics. This beats some computer applications graphics. And you just pretty much for your finger on paddle and by moving left and right, you pretty much just shift or hit the balls. And the many how hard you hit the ball, or how much momentum you put towards your finger is actually how fast you're going to hit the ball. And then also if you side swipe a little bit the last second will actually deliver over the spin of the ball. That’s why you get the different paddles that choose from and there you go. As you guys see really cool application great gameplay, great graphics, and no frame wasted.
Go back to the beginning and I will show you little bit of head to head. This going to be actually two players like I try to show you on earlier, little bit hard to show you two player by myself. It’s cool because for ping pong application on the app store so far, I have not be able to find one that is two player and me and my buddies all like quite ping pong in time to time. So this is definitely a pretty fun application to mess around with.
Go back out and I will show you the other game really quick just trying to give you really basics synapses of all these applications. Menu—arcade mode pretty much the same stuff. This is what I was talking about. Arcade Mode is where you’re up against yourself and this is where you're actually just playing. There are three different colors circles that will appear. There’s a red which is 25 points, green which is 50 and this yellow is 100 and you have to aim to actually get the ball to get in there. You have three lives and pretty much all you need to do is keep the ball alive. You do not really need to get in to these circles it is just an added bonus to get your scores as high as possible. The game is definitely fun especially when you just bored and you want a play by yourself. This is definitely one that will keep you going. So that is the arcade mode.
My next one, last one tournament mode, you pick a team and you play against the other seven countries. Here is your little ladder. So first game I am playing against UK and you go on and I will try and play against one of those guys. And you pretty much just go for golden paddle. It is really a sweet concept. That’s all I'm going to show you guys there World Cup Ping Pong. I definitely recommend that app. Not only because I love ping pong but it is really solid application and it is only couple of bucks. I definitely recommend that one. It is very original application from the app store.
Already guys, next application I have to use called D-Crypto Baseball. A very original application, you're not just playing hit and run baseball. You are playing a word trivia game. Pretty original on how they actually deliver the trivia to the game play. There’s other application that are obviously sports trivia in the app store but this is pretty original concept, pretty fun idea to play with.
Two different modes Challenge which is timed and free play which is untimed. And pretty much what you do here is you have a pretty much a game board set up. You’ve got the baseball music set in the background, as you guys hear. It sets to mood and pretty much what you have here is you have at the left corner you have 18 three-letter word, 15 four-letter word, 6 five-letter word, and 1 seven-letter word. Up in the right top corner it shows you what level you’re on. The words that you can actually make out of it and then the words needed left to pass the next level, your score. And then once you’ve actually have gotten one it shows you clues and it shows you a word list up here. Let’s try and go through it. I’ll try and find one really easily for you.
So there’s Williams and once you get the first word it starts off and you get to a new level and it gives you a bunch of different clues that have to do with it. And then now you build smaller words out of it. A lot of these words don’t have anything to do with baseball though, which can kind of be annoying. But you are pretty much just making any word that you can possibly see.
So anyway guys that’s pretty much it. You just hit the first word which is a trivia on baseball and then after that you're pretty much just building words. These are my word bank left and these are the words that I've actually put in. Pretty much that’s the entire application that I'm going to show you guys. That’s called D-Crypto Baseball, a very original trivia game from the app store pretty fun to at least play with especially for like trivia.
Next app that I have for you guys is going to be called Air Hockey. World cup air hockey is very similar to ping pong that we just showed to you a little bit ago except they are playing air hockey. It’s a pretty good game. I'm not going to lie. It’s fun. What you have here is you have practice mode, head to head which is two players and then tournament mode. I’ll show you practice actually. Just like earlier you pick one of the eight countries and then you pick one that doesn’t do well at air hockey. Canada apparently is not good at air hockey.
The game play is a little bit different. It seems like it has got a little bit of a frame rate issue. Very choppy game play except the score board up there. They definitely made that animated. But other than that the game play is a little bit off. I would have liked it a little bit more of an overhead view so they can actually see more of the board. But it’s fun game play especially with the tournament mode I keep it fresh and fun. I actually have to play against a lot of other computers to earn your victory. But I don’t know. There are other applications out in the app store that are similar to this that are actually free air hockey applications that I probably want to go check out first if you are actually looking for die hard game play. But if you're looking for actually a pretty much immense single player mode or two-player mode so you can actually have fun and play this application for a while, then you’ll probably going to want to check this one out.
So that’s going to be World Cup Air Hockey. That’s all I'm going to show you for very simple game play.
Next one, my final one is called Batter Up Baseball this one is making it into the app store right now. It’s going to be a pretty big one I'm definitely going to bet. It’s a fantastic application. It’s probably the best baseball application that I've seen in the app store so far. What you have is you have two different modes—arcade mode and homerun rally. Homerun rally you get three strikes just like normal homerun derby and stuff.
What you do is if you get a homerun it counts its fine. If you miss you a ball it’s a strike. You get three misses or three none homerun hits or foul or anything in actual stadium that counts as a strike. So you get three none homerun hits or three swings. And you just pull back and when the ball is released you just move it forward. So as you guys can see the graphics are awesome especially some of the animations when you actually get a high hit homerun. So, cheers the fans are going crazy and these are bonus target and stuff. If you hit those you get a little bit of a bonus to your score and whatnot. And I think you also get maybe an extra swing or something like that. Anyway that’s all I'm going to show you right now for the homerun rally mode if I can get out.
Now let’s go back and I'm going to show you the arcade mode. This is the one that I've been playing more is arcade mode. It’s a lot more fun I think. Anyway arcade mode pretty much is similar to—but arcade mode is you get 20 swings. So even if you miss it, hit it even if it’s a homerun you'll get only 20 swing. And then you try and hit targets and bonuses out in the field and whatnot. It definitely keeps the game fun. So guys it pretty just determines at what point you swing you are watching for this green light to come and when the green light comes you swing early you're going to go left or you're going to short. Anyway guys that’s pretty much the entire application. I'm going to show you one more. That’s Batter Up Baseball, a very fun application from the app store.
I’ll run through them really quickly guys. World Cup Ping Pong—the bomb! I definitely recommend that one. It’s so much fun. It’s definitely a very addicting game play. D-Crypto Baseball—I probably want to stick to that only if you are a hard core trivia fan and definitely a word game or because it’s really not too die-hard to baseball. But it is definitely a very fun trivia and word application. World Cup Air Hockey—it’s got a little bit of a fun tweak to it. It has got the tournament mode which definitely keeps it fresh and fun. But there are other applications out there that are air hockey simulator, so you might want to look at those first and then if you don’t seem too pleased with those definitely come out with this because this is definitely a fun application especially with the tournament mode like just as I said. Air Hockey is fun. And my last on is Batter Up Baseball—one of the best baseball applications I've seen in the app store so far. It has great graphics, great game play. All these games I think are $1.99 from the app store by Skyworks. They all do have online leader boards. All of them are really fun sports applications, so definitely go out and check them out.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed this review. I’ll talk to you later, have a fantastic day!
