Hey rhythm strummers, here is a really easy way to play this tune.
[Demonstration]
Let’s take a look at the strum pattern diagram here. We have a series of up and down arrows, and the letter B is on the top of the arrows written over beats one and three. That means to emphasize bass strings. So let’s take a G chord and try that. With the bass, you’re going to use your thumb in a downward stroke. And then on the three arrows that come after each bass, it’s going to be your index finger going up, down, up.
[Demonstration]
Now, let’s try that on a different chord. Let’s try it on a C chord where we have a root on the 5th string and not a 6th string. That way, it’s a little bit harder to get your thumb in the right place. If you reach around with your thumb on your left hand, just touch your low E string and that will keep you from accidentally sounding. So on the C chord, we’re going to go bass, up, down, up.
[Demonstration]
Now, let’s do one that has a bass note on the 4th string. So let’s finger a D7. This is going to be your bass not with your thumb.
[Demonstration]
And here is how that will all tie in with the song.
