Female: Replenish, revive, balance and restore. Hi, I am Jennifer Creese and I invite you the get to know your inner emotional landscape with this profound mind body unworkout. Yin Yoga is a practice of long held deeply relaxing stretching poses that open and activate the meridian system restoring youthful joint mobility as you quietly collect and gather your chi, your life force.
Whereas the yoga most people are familiar with appropriates the muscles, or Yang tissues of the body, Yin Yoga targets the more interior supportive structures, the fascia, literally down to the bone marrow. Yin is every bit as vital as a heating or Yang Vinyasa yoga practice, the power yoga where one flows from pose to pose energetically pushing the envelope concentrating on building muscular strength and stamina. Yin Yoga on the other hand is a cooling calming restorative practice that literally helps you to recharge your batteries.
You will learn poses like the dragonfly, seal and pigeon, all of which are designed to stretch and revitalize the deeper connective tissue of the body stimulating your meridians or energy pathways, a needleless form of acupuncture while will leave you feeling calm and energized at the same time. I will guide you through a practice of long held stretching poses combined with deep focus breathing encouraging you to tune in and listen to your body. You will hold poses between 10 breaths and up to 10 minutes if you have the time to spare as you liberate the body’s chronic holding patterns, relieve pain, restore youthful joint mobility and literally lubricate the joints recapturing some of the ease and freedom of movement you used to have as a child.
There are three levels in this DVD, beginner, intermediate and advanced and although you will see some of the same poses in each segment, I will add new poses as I go and layer my narration as you progress from one level to the next with eye opening facts about the body, and its inner terrain, how the body is directly connected to and influenced by the emotions. You will learn to heal yourself, prevent injury and find peace in your body, mind and spirit. We conclude each of the end segments with a short meditation practice where you can travel even deeper into your inner world. You will learn how to focus your breath and send it to various parts of your body as you still your mind.
I cannot say enough about Yin Yoga. I look forward to introducing you to this beautifully simple, life changing, quiet practice.
