YouTube Tips and Tricks
Welcome to thinkernut.com’s video cast. In this video I'm going to show you some different YouTube tips and tricks that you can use to enhance your YouTube experience.
In the first set of tricks I'm going to show you how to do and involves high resolution YouTube videos and to search YouTube for high resolution or high definition videos. You can do that through Google just entering the search stream that you see here and just replace the word CATS with whatever you want to search YouTube for and this should return all the different high definition clips that are on YouTube for whatever search criteria you entered.
Now the next thing I'm going to show you how to do is how to link directly to a high definition video. Just click on the video that you want and at the end of the URL, put “&hd=1” and that should link directly to the video. This also works with “&fmt=22” but the way that I showed you previously, the first way that I showed you is actually the more formal way to do it.
The next thing I'm going to show you how to do is —Well, I've actually covered this before it’s how to change standard definition videos in to high definition videos for YouTube. This just gives it the effect that it is a high definition video.
Now if you're into doing screen cast, you can use screentoaster.com. It’s a free online application that allows you to record your screen in high definition and upload it to YouTube in high definition quality. So, that’s a really good tool.
The next thing I'm going to show you how to do is how to download different YouTube videos. And one way of doing this is just in the video URL that you want to download, just to add the word “KISS” in the front of YouTube and it will take you to Kissyoutube.com where you can then download the regular quality video or the high quality video. You can also go to the keephd.com and paste in the URL and download high definition version of the video if one is available.
So there's plenty of different options for downloading YouTube videos but those are my two favorite. And if you go ytpodcaster.com, you can actually download YouTube videos to iTune to put them on your iPod. You can do that for a single video as I showed you here or you can do that for YouTube user’s user your name and it will show their 20 most recent videos that you can download it to iTunes or Zune. And also you can do all YouTube videos for like the most viewed videos on YouTube, the most discussed YouTube videos and things like that.
And if you go to listentoyoutube.com, you can download only the MP3 of the video instead of the entire itself. So, that’s good if you see a music video that you like and don’t want to worry about the entire video.
The next thing I'm going to show you how to do is how to link to a specific time in a video. For instance, if you don’t want to show the whole video but just add a certain point, just add the “#t=1” or how ever many minutes “M” and the how ever many seconds “S”. So for instance, this is going to be for zero minutes and 30 seconds. And then when you hit enter, it will take you to that point in the video. And if you want to do this for text in the comments, just type in the number and YouTube will automatically detect that it is a number for the video so it will skip automatically to it when you click on it.
The next thing that you can do is go to splicd.com and this allows you to paste in the YouTube video and put a starting and a stopping time point on there and it will give you an embeddable video that plays only that start and stop time.
All right, the next thing I'm going to show you doesn’t have anything to do with YouTube but it’s a way that I'm creating to get more people involved with creating tutorials so I'm going to start featuring people on my tutorials. And if you go to my forum, I have a couple different places where you can list cool websites that you’ve been to or also list a link to your YouTube videos if you create videos yourself.
So if you want a good way to get your name out there get your videos out there, I'm going to start revealing different people’s tutorial and featuring them on tinkernut.com’s videos. All right, well that’s it for this tutorial. For more, go to tinkernut.com.
