Your Daily Water Intake

Mark: Hi, I am Mark from Kansas City, Missouri and I was wondering how much water should I drink per day?

Bonnie Jortberg: Mark that is a very hot topic and that is how much fluid we need each day and it has been somewhat controversial because the old school of thought was that we needed eight eight-ounces glasses or 64 ounces of water each day. Since our bodies are almost 80% water, we actually do need a fair amount of fluid and what we have found is that recommendation of about eight eight-ounce glasses or 64 ounces of water is actually a pretty good one. That's what most people need. You know if you are live in a hot climate particularly one that's also humid, you probably need to increase that somewhat to about 10 to 12 glasses per day or if you are very physically active you also probably need to increase your fluid intake to about 10 to 12 glasses per day.
