Hey guys, it's me Marco from the gadget experts. Sorry for the dark screen but this was the best setting for the iPod screen. So as you might tell this is the iPod, an iPhone 3.0 software review. What's new about this is first, I just want to show you the spotlight search. For spotlight search, you can search your full iPod or your full iPhone, of course your email, calendars, contacts, and everything. We just slide to the left. I already put Y and it came up with the YouTube app and then I’ve got some songs and then I have some mail from YouTube service and that’s like comments and messages.
Also, this has really been frustrating for me. I sort of got some directions and I had to type it out on my iPod. Say I'm like on a café or something like that. Now for copy and paste feature, that is very helpful.
Now here, I typed a bunch of stupid letters here. So all I got to do is hold it and get the little magnifying glass and then I say select and it selects it. I press copy, then let me just delete that and delete all of that and then all I just press it again and paste and there are the same letters that are pressed.
Also that now you can do landscape mode in your texting, messages, notes. Let me just open back notes again and add a new one and then turn it side ways and wait until the screen kicks in, there you go. And I can type in landscape mode and all that.
With MMS you know it's been really very frustrating for iPhone 3G users that you know, you say that you got a picture and you want to send it to somebody but you can’t. And people are saying “Oh wow my phone from three years ago can do it. Why can’t the ipone do it?” Well now it can. With the new update you can now send MMS. You can take some photos and videos if you get the iPhone 3GS. Well, actually that’s not right.
Now, we have actually included an app, it's called voice memos. So lets zoom in to here and voice memos is just – you know is just a voice memo. You can record whatever you want and it would either remind you or just a memo. So say that like get bananas out the door, she’s taught her or something like that. It works better for iPhone because it has a mic built in. but if you have one of those mics for your iPod, you could just press record and you’re pretty much set.
We also have improved the calendar. I don’t really use the calendar a lot because I use my computer for that but it's also really nice to have. You can just put, you know, time to time dates and I'm not really would get into that.
Also, a really good enhancement into this is we –now, you can buy movies TV shows and audio books straight from your iPod or iPhone so that is really nice to have.
So lets see, lets just go into stocks. We are really pushing the iPhone and iPod to be in the business world, you say iPhone only because it has to be a phone. Now, turn it sideways, lets wait for this to kick in, and it should kick in any minute. There you go. Now, you can just – it's really enhanced and you have the one day, one month, three months, six months, one year, and two years. Now, that’s really enhanced with the stocks. I'm not really into stocks because I don’t run a business.
So, we have a couple safari enhancements, it's faster, it autofill in username in password.. So you can save your passwords and so longer have to put it in.
One thing that I really do want to show you guys is—the literal enhancement into the video playing, let me just search our YouTube name on here. Just give it a second to load and it said loading 4:48 lets just go to GOGO-USA. Now, just give it a second to load again. Alright, now let me just zoom into here. Now you can see the little thing right here and it actually has been changed. Now, if I move my finger away from that it still moves, if I swipe my fingers across the screen. Not as fast but it still does move.
Now the really big thing for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS, is now you can internet teather via USB or Bluetooth. The iPod Touch will not have Bluetooth because it does not have the hardware where the little chip that makes the Bluetooth. For the iPhone you have the stereo Bluetooth so it's compatible with stereo headphones, car kits, and other like Bluetooth speakers.
Now it has an automatic Wi-Fi login. So it’s logged in to a Wi-Fi hotspot and your iPhone automatically logs you in when you connect again. So that’s pretty nice to have.
Sync notes, you can just sync your notes to your computer and that’s pretty much with that enhancement.
Now this is pretty big because I don’t know what this meant for the ipod but we have parental controls. You can set like what kind of videos, what kind of music your kids can listen to.
And now you can actually log into your itunes store account from your iphone or ipod. What's also really cool about the new software update is the Youtube app you can finally log in and don’t have to go to safari to log into your Youtube account, check your mail and bookmarks and crap, and like that
One thing I personally don’t like about – I'm not trying to be bias here, but it's called shake the shuffle so I'm just going to play a music. Play viva la vida now, while that’s playing, got to turn down the music so it’s not copyrighted. So all I got to do is shake it and got to shake it a little harder and then it changed to Time of Your Life by Green Day. So you can turn this off but I would not recommend this if you're a runner or you have a arm band then you’ll be going through songs like crazy.
Now, you can actually support 30 languages. This you know, is pretty good because there is a lot of people in the world that speak more than one language and they might talk to you well in fact don’t speak English or whatever their language is and you also have 40 keyboard layouts.
MobileMe it's like kind of like this tracking thing if you want to say. If you lose your iphone I guess you can log in with MobileMe and find your iphone. So that’s like a GPS tracking whatever you want to call it.
And now you can run the latest apps, the next generation pf iPhone apps like period to period games. So that’s a little top review what ever you want to call it of the new 3.0.
3.0 software is available on June 17th which is actually today. It is $9.99 for iPod touch and is also free for the iPhone.
