Shalom! This video is about one of the few phrases that I remember from high school Latin. West this wear embedded, clothes make the man. Now I have some other videos on modestly. Two videos in fact that transmute and that is what I am talking about here. This is base on the tour portion to Shavah which describe in great detail the clothing of the priest, the high priest especially. They wear fancy thing in head that is kaddusha holy to God. They wear breast plate with 12 stones of Israel. They are atonics and sashes and all these fancy garment. Now, no Jews today wear this kind of clothing. Other religions have adopted for their priest but we put this on out Torah so if you see my video 1 Torah Aliyah 101 you will see the dress of what we put in the Torah with the breast plate and either a crown like a king or the rimonim these two things are going with handle, sashes with all this kind of staff but the question is why, why did called I mean wear this, what is the point of it?
Well, it was very interesting is there three different views about whom it was intended for know who is this great Mandeville commentators whose the point of it was to inspire the worshiper that the people watching needs to be inspired. Now, today really the people officiating at services the rabbi and the canter do not wear special clothing other than maybe where we wear a white kiddo. Now more less traditional Judaism they wear this long minister type gown or quite robes that are worn by kind a priest administered that was adopted by Jews. The Chassidim were like a garter like a belt or may have this special dress clothing for Shibah kind of shiny long black hand and some fur some of fur hats, but other than that the clothes does not wear anything special, all Jews and especially Jewish males and now trained females to wear Tally pearl shells. I have a video on that. But it is interesting that the point of this will inspire the worshiper but they will look at the priest and will be inspired by the clothing but the safer if we look says something else.
The clothing was inspired by the person warrior, when he dress up like he felt special feelings and internal holiness. I remember in high school in debate I used to wear suits and on Fridays before we go to the tournament we dress up with the suit all day because we leave right from the school. I felt so differently be dress up with the suit in high school than the regular clothes you wear and remember visiting my kids, we were also high school debaters and when they went to see you know before the tournament I go to see him or something for lunch or whatever and then we dress up in this fancy clothes. Now also kids in high school wearing flaky clothes. It seems to be a dress down and emphasis today in religious worship. The longer your Sunday vest, your Shubab vest may synagogue still today people more or less dress up but there is even though it is unseen king, king are going to visit the king of kings and you should dress up with respect.
There is a difference, now some people white dress of our worker who want it to relax and I am sure and I kind of understand that but there is a difference where you will wear certain kinds of clothing how you feel and say if you cannot plan a dressing method to clean themselves will be inspired by the dress, the kind of dress that he was ordered to wear by the torah to be more enthusiastic but he should let down the spiritual guard. And finally we have a median it said God look at the breast plate of the twelve stone of Israel that was inspired. The God remembered with covenant with the nation of Israel so you have three views there that the clothing of the high priest is meant by one commentator to inspire the people watching and the other said is to inspire the themselves and the third it was said is to inspire God. But it goes to high light that old Latin phrase that I remember from the high school, vest was wearing clothes make the man.
In that when we dress we should think carefully about the intentionality are we to inspire other people with good thoughts about us and holy thought or not are we do inspired ourselves to live and conduct ourselves in a holy way and we are looking in such a way that we can make God proud of how we are dressed. I think those are the three valuables ways to think about the idea of this total portion in this specific order. Maybe we should all walk around with something that we feel like us in our head that is kaddusha out of my holy to God. When Jews wear kippot, head coverings it is to remember that we are to be inspired by God. I have a video on kippot but just remember that the way it is written down and English letters are usually Yarmoka with an R which consists of two words yera demulka or over the king. So to inspire us to be in all we got. Shalom.
