How to Virginize the iPhone
Oh, Steve Jobs, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins because of your just punishment. But most of all because they offend you Steve Jobs who are all good and deserving of my love.
In choosing to unlock and breaking terms of service, I have sinned against you who I should love above all things. I firmly resolve with the help of the internet to virginize and to avoid all future temptations.
Male 1: Hey pal! I just want to thank you for helping me unlock this thing. The only problem is they got a new firmware out. Can I put that on an unlocked iPhone?
Male 2: Not the way we unlock in the first place. Do you want to get the newest firmware on this? You are going to have to virginize it.
Male 1: Virginize it? What is that?
Male 2: You know are going to make like it was when you bought a brand new, untouched by hacker in pants.
Male 1: Can you do that?
Male 2: Oh, yes! It is pretty simple.
Male1: Cool.
All right, so, here are the simple steps for virginizing your iPhone. The first thing that you need to do is go to General Settings, auto unlock and set it to Never. Now, before you proceed, you want to make sure that your firmware on your modem is 03.14.08_G. You will find this in the settings general about section of your iPhone. All right now, what we need to do is add a new repository to the installer. So, if you watched the previous episode, the source that it pulls all the applications from, we are adding a new one. So, go to the installer app, tap on sources, at it and add, and add-in the i.unlock.no to repository. Now, after this is added, you want to make sure that you still have the BSD Subsystem. This is should be installed on your iPhone if you went through our previous tutorial. If not, go to the Systems category and install it. Now, you are ready to actually install the virginizer. This is found under Unlocking tools. Go ahead and install this and run it. It will take about three to five minutes to complete. Now, after this is run, it will have changed your modem. Its firmware back to the original; it will be virginized.
So, from this point on, if you want to upgrade to the 1.1.1 firmware, you need to do a full restore from iTunes. It is pretty straight forward. You just hold down the Home button when powering off and powering on your iPhone that will set it into restore mode and in iTunes, hold down shift when you click on the restore button and you are able to select the actual firmware that you want to restore. On our share notes we have a link to the 1.1.1 firmware if you want to restore directly to that.
Male 2: So, we successfully virginized your phone.
Male 1: That is how you do it, great!
Male 2: And from this point on, you can now upgrade to the newest firmware.
Male 1: Nice! What a life.
Male 2: And then stay tuned for the next episode. We are going to show you unlock it again. [Laughs]
Male 1: Unlock it again?
Male 2: Yeah, unlock it. Jaw break it.
Male 1: Great!
Male 2: You know, to the newest firmware.
Male 1: Great! Stay tuned.
