Alright guys, as you can see here, I have the iPod Touch. This is Generation 1 of the iPod Touch and 2 was out. I got this yesterday at Best Buy, marked $20 because the Generation 2 was out and this is the 1. I only went for the 8 gig, because the 32 and the 16 are hard–they’re hard disks inside. Actually, spinning and rotating in there. I want a flash memory, so 1, it doesn’t take as much power, it doesn’t–you can’t here it and it’s cooler. And I think it may be a little bit thinner, I’m not–maybe not, I’m not totally sure about that.
Anyway, so this is the hone screen. Top left, we have Safari which is the web browser. Here’s my Hudson City School District website. I can turn it this way. The built-in–actually, I might realize this–I did that and then it puts it like that so I can read things, I can zoom in, zoom out with my fingers, like this, which is really cool. And then turn it back this way if I want the portrait.
I can also open–turn it back this way. Open multiple tabs–not really tabs but different windows. Like this, and then iGoogle window open here. Look at that, zoom on it. Look at the exotic car of the day, Ferraris on eBay. So, that’s really cool. Then go back and hit the Home button. Here I am, back to the home screen.
Next, we have the calendar, over here. I’ll touch–it’s a multi touch display, meaning you can touch in different places. It realizes that, then acts accordingly. So let’s go back at the Home button. Then I have Mail. You can put–I’ll check my Inbox right now. I’ll start checking from mail down in the bottom and then it’ll tell me it just updated and I don’t have anything new because I just replied everything from this, the last night.
Contacts, there’s a special place for YouTube because the web browser Safari doesn’t exactly–or exactly support Flash Player. So it has this own thing for YouTube and flash based media.
Here’s the video on the Hilton and Cancun, Mexico. I was just there a little bit ago, so that’s the last thing I was looking at, down the elevator. By the way, it’s beautiful, I recommend to you all.
Back Home, there’s Notes. You can type stuff. You got a Calculator, different clocks. Weather, Stocks, Maps–maps are really great quality. I’ll click on that or tap it. And first, my street, I can zoom in and out with my fingers like this [Demonstration], which is cool. And I think it’s just Google Earth but anyway, it’s just the same. It’s great.
Stocks and Weather, good quality. The Wi-Fi in it is 802.11 B and G frequencies. The reception isn’t as good a laptop maybe but my radars in my kitchen, I’m in my basement right now, probably 40 feet away and I got up in the top left next towards says iPod. I have three bars, I don’t know if you can see that. But the image has a pretty good quality, the Calculator, well it calculates okay, so I suppose that’s fine.
And that’s probably about it. It’s really great. I highly recommend it. It’s got an ambient light sensor over here to adjust the display brightness to how bright it is around you, which is really good, really nice to have. And then it’s got Notes, you can type stuff in here. I think it will recognize note at that one. I think it may be only Safari that recognizes when you turn it or media, like that.
So anyhow, great device, I highly recommend it. And good luck, prices are down right now. So go out, act now, get–I just recommend the Generation 1. You don’t need the 2, don’t pay the extra–about hundred bucks or something. Just get a built-in speaker and a tiny bit thinner because it’s not thick. You can see a comparison to my hand, that’s not a huge device. And I do recommend you get a case for it to keep the back from getting scratched up. Mine is new and I have the case, I just took it out so it shouldn’t be too bad.
So again, the iPod Touch 8 gig Generation 1. Good luck, hopefully this can help you.
