        • Placement is key when integrating videos throughout my site. Where do you recommend placing the ThumbSeed on my pages?

          The ThumbSeed unit displaying video thumbnails will appear according to where they are placed in your page template, and where you choose to place the code generated for you. However for best implementation be recommend:

          1. Above the fold placement is better than below the fold:

          2. Horizontal units within content are better than vertical units outside content, regardless of whether the unit is above or below the fold:

        • Why aren't my ThumbSeed thumbnails showing?

          You may not be able to see your new ThumbSeed placement right away. Often this is because the page is empty and ThumbSeed cannot return a result, or because your pages are in a dev environment behind a firewall and our crawler cannot access the page, and therefore cannot return or display results as it should. In such cases, we suggest you try placing the ThumbSeed code again, this time with the fallback parameter option checked.

        • I’m not sure I understand 5min Media’s category and sub-category structure, could you elaborate?

          When selecting categories and sub-categories from which to seed content, you should select the categories (or sub-categories if you wish to narrow things down) most relevant for your site. 5min Media has over 140 sub-categories, to ensure that you can drill down and receive only the content that is best-suited to your needs. There is no restriction on how many categories and sub-categories you can choose.

          You can select all categories, or alternately, narrow your selection down to a specific sub-category. Choosing a parent-category will effectively include content from all of that category’s sub-categories as well. Should you have any questions regarding the content included in a given category or if you need help deciding which categories are best-suited for your needs, please contact us.

        • Do I have to login in order to use 5min Media’s products?

          You don’t have to login in order to use 5min Media’s products. If you are a 5min Media Partner – you should login prior to creating or customizing your ThumbSeed, so that your Syndicator identification number (SID) will be included in the code and video views generated from this product will be attributed to your account.

        • I am currently partnered with 5min Media - where can I add my SID to the code so that it is linked to my 5min account?

          If you are an existing partner, you should login, and we will insert your Syndicator ID (SID) automatically into the code. Your SID is your Syndicator ID number; it is a unique number that we assign to each syndication partner in order for us to be able to track your views and revenues accurately. Video views from this product will be automatically counted to your account.

        • How do I sign up?

          Registering to 5min is a simple 2-step process – we've made it as easy as possible!
          1. Simply click on Join Now at the top of the 5min homepage and fill out our sign-up form.
          2. A validation email will be sent to the email address you provided, so be sure to enter a valid email address. If you don't receive a validation email within 10 minutes, remember to check your junk mail folders. This would also be a good time to add 5min Media to your list of trusted senders, so that you don't miss out on any important updates or information regarding your account. Once you've received the validation email, click on the link inside it and you're good to go.

          If you are a 5min Media partner, your 5min login information is sent to you by your account manager once your 5min implementation has been approved and activated for your account. If you forget your login information or if you require any assistance, please email your account manager or partners@5min.com.

        • How do I embed a product from 5min Media on my website?

          To embed 5min Media’s products in your website, just copy the generated code from the “Grab Code” box, and paste the embed code into your website. That's all there is to it - adding videos to your pages within minutes.

        • Who should I contact if I have questions regarding 5min implementation on my website?

        • How do I select which videos to present on my site?

          5min Media’s proprietary VideoSeed semantic technology powers efficient, easy implementation of 5min Media’s Syndication offering, helping bring the Video Everywhere vision to life across virtually any site. VideoSeed contextually matches the most relevant videos from the 5min library to your website’s existing textual content.
          You can also select to present Featured Videos, curated by our programming team: 5min Media’s editors screen and hand-pick videos on a daily basis, in order to identify high-quality videos from a long list of premium providers.         • Can I generate revenue through video views using ThumbSeed?

          Currently, in order to qualify as a 5min Media Partner, we require that you have over 50,000 monthly page-views in the US. If you meet this requirement, please apply here or contact us for more information.

        • Can I change my 5min password?

          Once you have your login information and you login to 5min.com, you will be able to change your password at any time on your 5min account panel.

        • Why do users sometimes get an “Oops, Video Blocked” message on 5min Media’s player?

          While the majority of our video content can be viewed globally, there is a very small portion that cannot be viewed outside of the U.S. due to rights and licensing restrictions. This message will appear when one of these videos are accessed from a non-U.S. IP address. Please talk to your account manager or email partners@5min.com about how to identify these content items and find the best solution for your viewers.

        • I plan to place the ThumbSeed below the fold, how can I increase engagement?

          For ThumbSeed implementations where the placement is below the fold, we recommend enhancing your integration with TitleSeed for increased engagement.

          TitleSeed is a named anchor tag leading from the top of an article page to a 5min Media ThumbSeed implementation at the bottom.

          The addition of TitleSeed underneath an article’s title will direct a user to the related 5min video when clicked on.

        • How would you like a video to open once a thumbnail is clicked?

          The default option is that the video opens in a new layer on top of your site in a lightbox. If you'd like to open a new page of your site as part of a Video Section, simply follow the implementation steps below.

          Implementation Process:
          1. Create a dynamic Video Section on your website.

          2. Connect the ThumbSeed to your Video Section by adding 2 parameters to the ThumbSeed code:

            directurl= The URL Prefix to open the video pages (your dynamic Video Section URL).
            It can be any URL you want. Enter a valid URL path.

            ht= is the new page target. You can assign it the parameter _self, _blank, etc.
            Choosing _self will make the link open in the same window.
            Choosing _blank will make the link open in a new window.

          3. Your adjusted code should look something like the sample displayed below:

      • THUMBSEED WORDPRESS PLUG-IN

        If you’d like to implement ThumbSeed on a WordPress-based or WordPress-hosted site or blog, please check out our ThumbSeed WordPress Plug-In, made especially with WordPress users in mind.
        ThumbSeed for WordPress allows you to quickly and easily integrate the power of ThumbSeed into your WordPress site or blog.

        Installation Process:

        1. Download ThumbSeedWPPlugin.zip, and save it to your computer.
        2. Upload the .ZIP file to Wordpress using the upload plug-in function, or extract the file and upload it to the plug-in directory via FTP.
        3. Activate the plug-in through the 'Plug-ins' menu in the WordPress admin application.
        4. Go to Settings > 5min Media ThumbSeed to set up the plug-in. And… You're done! The widget should now appear on your website.

        • How do I activate the ThumbSeed as a widget in WordPress?

          1. Activate the 5min Media ThumbSeed Widget through the 'Plug-ins' menu in the WordPress admin application.
          2. Select your preferences under ‘Settings> 5min Media Thumbseed, and mark your ThumbSeed as ‘Widget’
          3. Go to Design > Widgets in the WordPress admin application, and select your preferred settings.
          4. And… You're done! The widget should now appear on your website.*
            * Wish to create a few different ThumbSeed displays? Go to “Global Configuration” and select “Multi-Instance”. Now you can create a few different ThumbSeed displays to match your needs.

        • I am currently partnered with 5min Media - where can I add my SID to the code so that it is linked to my 5min account?

          Simply enter your SID under “Global Configuration” and save. All ThumbSeed instances you now create in your WordPress account will be linked to your 5min Media account.

        • I installed the plug-in but can’t activate it. What am I doing wrong?

          Your PHP might be an outdated version. 5min ThumbSeed plug-in is written for PHP4 & PHP5, and does not support earlier versions of PHP.

        • How do I select which videos to present?

          5min Media’s proprietary VideoSeed semantic technology powers efficient, easy implementation of 5min Media’s Syndication offering, helping bring the Video Everywhere vision to life across virtually any site. VideoSeed contextually matches the most relevant videos from the 5min library to your website’s existing textual content.

          Make sure you keep the “Enable Fallback Videos” checked. This option means that in case the VideoSeed engine yields only a few results, the rest of the video results displayed will be from the first category you selected from the list.
